i've just watched some classic moments on youtube from about 1998-2002 and i've just realized just how c**p wwe is now compared to them days. i miss the masked kane, the good diva roster, great storylines between the likes of kane, undertaker, stone cold, rock, hhh etc. and i especially miss the invasion years between wwf ecw and wcw. they were the best times. what are your thoughts.

  1. I tend to agree with you. It was so much better ten years ago, and they had people that could actually wrestle and cut promos, unlike today. Wrestling was also a lot better in the 80's than it is now. Batista and Cena no doubt have some charisma and a love for the business, but their in ring skills and mic skills (Cena used to be better on the mic, but he has gone downhill) are not as great as The Rock or Stone Cold back in the late 90's. Hopefully they can rebound, as they do have young talent like Orton, Edge, Mr. Kennedy, CM Punk, and the Hardys. The old guys like HBK, HHH, Undertaker are still the best, but what will the WWE do when these guys are gone? Only time will tell.

  2. Past was the best, period.

  3. Those were the days! But WWE has no real competition so you will have to wait for TNA to rise because WWE is better when they have real competition!

  4. yeah i miss those days too...i really miss the days of DX...Shawn and HHH...WWE presently is c**p compared to those days

  5. i miss those days too...but the wwe def isn't c**p now. i think it's great. i think people have grown and things are just different thats all. i love the new guys...i love how the older ones are still kickin @ss. i think it's doing great and is underrated. people keep comparing it to the old days...you can't do that...because it def will look bad compared to then.

  6. those where the good old days, when wcw and wwf were competitng thats when the enterainment value was at its highest, vince these days is trying to shove john cena down our throats because he thinks he can.  He always said that the crowds would like what he wants them to like.  Now a days no one can control the crowd well enough on their own, and the writers have to be more creative than usual and even then its corny and reptitive.  To make things interesting they should bring back some of the old wrestlers with a new look and have them competiting agasint the new blood that makes sense.  Like having macho man vs hhh in a no hold bar match, have hogan vs austin, sting vs hbk,

  7. So true.  I think about that every time I watch RAW.  I have a vast collection of wrestling videos from the past, and watch them now and then to remember the glory days of wrestling...also known as Second Golden Age of Wrestling (80s-90s)- ill post the site below.

Right now, as I have said on other questions, I record RAW and end up skipping through an hour of it, because it is just not that good.  I watch there matches that have potential, and end up being disappointed most often.

I disagree with Madison, you have to compare the past with the present in all areas, not just wrestling.  Generally quality has gone down and you have to let the company know (in the case of WWE not watching them is a choice many have made) that their product is not up to the standards it should be.

To get off subject for a moment..

I see this especially with the hollywood movie industry, food/restuarants, etc.

I don't go to the theater but once or twice a year.  If I am going to waste my time on a movie that might suck, I don't want to spend my money on it either.  So i wait for it to come on DVD or the movie channels (the movies with great reviews I will usually rent on DVD).

I will mention fast food as really going down the drain.  I recently ate at Burger King, not having done so for a few years(like 8 years).  I recently went there and had a whopper...ugh I questioned whether I was eating meat!  And later I actually ended up getting sick from it (and no its not all psychological, but partially probably).

    Now back to the question...

So I say to you,  subject yourself to mostly quality .  It is ok to be disappointed when you compare the current product to its predecessor.  In the case of the WWE, RAW is going to be your best show (i only watch it due to time factors, quality, angry with McMahon for moving JR and HHH to Smackdown, etc).

  8. I remember watching the h**l in the cell match with hbk and hhh yeah i miss them but when u get old u have to quit and go on. I like old and now day wrestling i like that big show still wrestling

  9. I miss those days too. And they have lost millions of fans in just 8 years. They are getting an average rating of 3.5 now they use to get a 7.4.
