My daughter is bottle fed and has developed a very bad habit of tongue thrusting. It takes me an hour every time to feed her. Any suggestions?

She had this problem when she was born but stopped doing it after she was couple of weeks old. It has come back recently. Please help.

  1. Tongue thrusting is a natural reflex that goes away around 4-6 months.

  2. She may stop doing this after she's weaned off bottles, and she may not. I was born a tounge thruster and ended up getting braces for an open bite when I was 14.  I could shut my jaw, open my lips, and stick out about a quarter of my tounge.  They put metal spikes with sharp edges on my front botton teeth to train my tounge to rest in the roof of my mouth.  All I can say, is it worked.

  3. Oh sweetie!  Frustrating I know!  My kids did this to.  Just be patient as possible and let baby eat how they will.  Do not get mad or to frustrated!!!  Ended at 6 months for my kids!
