  1. Funny, I just moved to my new house last week, and I also have  a 3 year old (girl). I had ants. The 1st morning my daughter woke up with about 20 bites on her face and more on body (im not exaggerating).  I vacuumed, I cleaned, I scrubbed, I did everything in my power to get rid of them, they were all over my house, kitchen and all. My husband and I were going to call a fumigator, but we decided we were going to handle it. We went to Home Depot and bought a large bug sprayer called Ortho for about $15. My husband started outside, he sprayed the whole house (outside) and minor inside for the lines of ants, and its been about 4 days and I have not seen any ants, after they almost took over my house. I recommend you save the vacuuming and cleaning for after you fumigate and save $$$ by doing it your self, it only took my hubby about 30 min. The bug sprayer is for all types of bugs, it is very important to start on the outside, b/c that is how they come in!!! Good luck 2 u I hope the bed bugs dont bite!

  2. daddy long legs don't bit. Be careful about making sure you don't have any standing water outside your home they are a breading ground for Mosquitoes. keep windows screened and doors closed. I would wonder about black flies as well.

Just make sure he doesn't pick at his bits and use a anti-itch cream. I suggest you get a few sonic bug repel systems.

    Updated-

flea's can stick around for a long time.

My son is allergic to the proteins in flea bits...If things get worse, swell/cause terrible itching -could be the cause?

Bed bugs can live through just about anything. Check the bottoms and seams of your matresses.- http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/im...

Don't forget that there are things like fungus, parasites, common bacterial infections.

I had my son see a dermatologist and allergist before we found out what was going on.

  3. You can buy an indoor insect spray in a gallon spray bottle at home depot. we did that after we moved into our new house and saw some weird bugs on the walls. good luck.

  4. Maybe it's allergies. They could be hives not bug bites. Maybe the house has mold or he's allergic to something in the house or outside allergies.

  5. OK...

you should probably fumigate the house.

it will resolve almost every bug in the house.

dont let your house get moist and keep things picked up off the floor...

also you could spray a bug repellent around the border of your house ... and also inside...when he goes outside to play spray him with off or some kind of bug repellent.

    Hope that helped :)

  6. Mommy of twins +1--good move on your new house--you'll be happy there.

Now about the 'bug bites'.Daddy long legs don't normally bite, but here's a very strong possibility.Check it out:

1--are the 'bites' tiny and red?

2-- do they swell or have any raised area around the bite?

3--are you treating the bites as follows:

a-warm bath with a 'dash of table salt in the water'(this has a soothing effect and will relieve the itching as well as a drying effect on the area)

b-check the 'private area for new 'bites'

c-after bathing and complete drying, dab a small amount of achocol on the bites this will also dry

d--a good cortisone ointment will also assist in the healing process.

The cause?? Get ready for this --do not get offended as it is a prevalent problem in the summer.

BED BUGS--they thrive in warm moist areas--the seams around the mattress where the child sleeps, chairs, sofas, pillows. They are almost impossible to get rid of once they infest the household furnishings.Perhaps a through cleaning with diluted bleach water--allow to air dry.

Your local health department can direct you how to deal with this problem. The bed bugs are very small but red in color so you may be able to see them upon inspection.

Another possibility are fleas if there are pets (which come in  in full force from outside while hitching a ride with your pet.)

  7. Daddy-long-legs don't bite humans.  Check for other bugs.

  8. I have always heard that daddy-long-legged could not bite because their mouths were to small.  I really hope this is true since I played with them a great deal as a child!  We have daddy-long-legged spiders in our home also, and they do not bother my toddler.  It could be mosquitos, ants,  or even fleas.

  9. daddy long legs dont bite. I've always been told they cant bite becasue their mouth is so small or something like that, but I do know I've never been bitten by one and I used to handle them all the time when I was little(I hate spiders too!!weird...I know) You might have some other type of spider in the house...you can try a bug bomb or bug spray or if you really want to  you can spray your son with OFF bug spray to keep bugs away from him.Try to vacuum the nooks and crannies everytime you get a chance this can reduce the amount of spiders you have in the house
