  1. First, don't panic. Kids get fevers, and some seem pretty high; but for a child, this isn't all that bad.

You should contact her pediatrician for confirmation and further advice. I'm not sure I would hit the ER yet, just make sure you speak to her doctor, too.

Make sure she stays hydrated. Fluid is of great importance. It helps her body fight the infection and without it, the infection can get worse. Food isn't as important, but she should eat something (even if just a bite here or there). Children's Pedialyte is a good source of fluid, but water is also fine.

Acetaminophen and ibuprofen are the preferred medications for fever in children. Acetaminophen comes in suppository form for children who are vomiting. It may be a good place to start. Do not under any circumstances give her aspirin - it is linked to a very serious illness called Reye's Syndrome. Follow the bottle dosing for children her age, and do not overdose her. Acetaminophen and ibuprofen can be given concurrently. Remember, a fever is the body's way of fighting infection, and carrying a small fever is acceptable.

Dress her down in just a diaper or diaper and t-shirt. Don't over dress or cover her in blankets, that will only cause the fever to go higher. With only 101.9, she doesn't need to be washed down or wet to cool her, and very rapid changes in temperature are not too helpful anyway.

Please also take the time to call her pediatrician. The doctor may have additional or other advice, or wish to see her.

    Cheers!

  2. put a wet rag on the head and alcohol on a cotton and put them under her armpit and wait a while and check her aging but the rag and alcohol should work

my son had a fever of 102.3 and i did what i told you to do and his fever went down in 20 min but i checked him ever hour to make sure that it don't come back and if it did i did it aging with the wet rag ad cotton

i believe that this is going to work just try it

please write me back and let me know that she got better

  3. Take her there as soon as possible

  4. 101.9 is iffy. If it starts reaching 103 or higher take her in immediately.

Give her a cool bath, remove her clothes, cool/wet rag for her forehead, and give her a cool/thin sheet to sleep with. And watch her closely. For the nausea try a little gripe water, the ginger really helps. Also watch closely to see if she's vomiting the tylonal up. And give her another dose. Give her plenty of fluids. If she still can't keep fluids or tylonal down take her to the emergency room. You don't want her to dehydrate.

  5. Since she is throwing up along with the fever i would take her to the ER now.  It could jump up fast and if she can't keep the tylenol down then you will have a harder time controling it.

  6. Make sure to keep her cool.  My daughter had a hard time keeping tylenol down as well.  I used some motrin though and she seemed to be able to keep it down better (it wasn't as thick as tylenol.  I also mixed her tylenol in some sprite one time and that worked VERY well.  If you can not get her fever to break then take her to the ER.  At that young age fever can just be so dangerous.

  7. if it hits 102.5 degrees, head to the ER.  You can try using Tylenol pediatric suppositories (or generic) along with keeping a cool cloth on her forehead.

  8. cool towels, remove unnecessary clothing and blankets. every time my children have had fevers, when I would try to take them to the ER by the time we got there the fever had already dropped just from the cooler air outside. Maybe open a window or two if theres a cool breeze outside.

as far as vomiting, give pedialite, by the teaspoonful, every 20 minutes. when shes able to keep this down, move on to apple sauce.  then crackers, etc.....

do not give more medicine if she vomits it up! just keep giving fluids until vomiting stops to prevent dehydration.

  9. In normal, healthy children the temperature will rarely go above 106. Fevers will reach that point and then remain there. The body is smart and it knows what is too hot.

As for tylenol, it doesn't actually get rid of a fever...it can actually make it go up.

Tylenol and any "fever reducer" simply work by blocking the signal to the brain to raise the temperature. The body sends a signal telling the brain to raise the internal temperature to kill pathogens. Tylenol blocks this signal so the brain never receives it and thus doesn't raise the temperature. The body responds by sending a stronger signal. By the time the medicine wears off and the brain receives the signal, the signal is so strong the fever might actually go UP. A fever of 101.9 isn't dangerously high. It is about normal fever range.

Put her in a warm bath or else put some warm cloths on her head and abdomen. This will help to raise the body's core temperature so that the body won't have to, and thus the fever will either stabalize at that temperature or will go down. If you keep her unclothed and alternate warm baths with a lukewarm/cool cloth on the forehead, she will remain fairly comfortable. Remember to keep her hydrated. She should be able to keep down water.

Fever and vomiting are both the body's way of getting rid of bad pathogens, and are thus good (now, if she is throwing up every few seconds or minutes that isn't normal, but off and on and in the presence of food is ok). The body was built with its own mechanisms of maintaining health. If she is sleeping now, she isn't too uncomfortable and will most likely wake up with a lower fever and less vomiting. Let her sleep for now, check on her periodically, and re-check her temperature in the morning when the body has had time to work its magic.

This is by no means a medical diagnosis though. If you fear your daughter is in danger or if she becomes unresponsive, call her doctor.

  10. call the after hours line at the pediatricians. if shes puking and has a fever, and if there is no after hours line, then take her to the hospital. im pretty sure 103 = brain damage.

  11. Go to the er

  12. If you are worried then take her to the emergency room.  If where you are is cool outside then strip her off and take her outside into the cool.  We used to do that with the kids to get their temperatures down even in the middle of winter.  try to get little sips of water into her to keep her hydrated and next chance you get go past a chemist and invest in some hydration bars.  They are like icy poles but replace nutrients when the kids are sick they can just suck on them like an icy pole.  great for gastro as well.

Dont be afraid to strip her off and get her cool as she wont get sick from being cold but having a sky high temperature can be dangerous.

  13. I would take her to the ER but you want to make sure that all or her clothes are off except for her undergarments and put lukewarm washrags under her arms and on her head... re-wet them when they get hot or cold. Do not apply cold washrags... just warm. Cold could put her body into shock... Just heard that from a ER dr myself. I was always told not to give any tylenol until fever is 102... I never follow that because I can not stand to see her looking like that but don't be suprised if you hear that as well. Have you tried motrin or Ibuprophen. you are supposed to alternate. Every two hours... tylenol and Ibuprophen. I would say though that since she is vomiting then to give her pedialite and popsicles or water.... (any clear liquids that she can keep down) this will keep her from getting dehydrated. Good luck... I myself would do these things and still take her into the ER just to be on the safe side.
