  1. It is very common for kids to be lactose intolerant. Some grow out of it some don't. Some get it temporary when they're sick. My doctor told me NEVER give a child who has diarrhoea milk because they can be temporary lactose intolerant. I would say stop milk now and try in two weeks time.

Meanwhile, I can think of many things that you can use as substitute. My daughter is the queen of gastro so I am used to give her substitute whever she has diarrhoea.

    1) there's lactose free long life milk you can get. worth trying.

    2) if you toddler won't drink it try "sanitarium" So good soymilk or chocolate soymilk. My daughter loves it.

    3) try cheese (try Devendale "high calcium" sliced cheese)or soy cheese

    4) try yoghurt (there's a Nestle one called Munch Bunch, it's high in calcium and low in sugar and has heart foundation tick) or soy yoghurt

    5) give green veggie e.g. broccoli (of course that's to give when they don't have diarrhoea)

The purpose of milk is to give them the calcium they need but you don't HAVE to get it from milk. You don't HAVE to give formula either once they are over 12 mths. Formula sometimes tends to decrease their appetite and cause tooth decay in the long run.

Don't worry. Your child will be fine. If you are really concerned it is probably not a bad idea to speak to your early childhood nurse.

    Good luck!

  2. I had this with daughters 3 and 4 (now 11 and 8). They were on formula until 2 yo because every time milk was introduced this and a rash and a runny nose occurred. When I did switch them, I did so with lactose free milk,  then eased regular milk a little at a time until they were drinking full strenght milk. They both do fine now. My sister had the same thing with one of hers and they to this day all still drink soy milk. Make sure to talk to your pediatrician!

  3. he got some allergy to cows milk...so try soya milk or so

  4. not a 100% sure but you can get toddler milk so try that instead its obviously not agreeing with him x*x

  5. Sounds like he could possibly be having a reaction. Are you giving him Vit D milk? Have you tried mixing half formula to half cows milk, Talk to his Pediatrician too and work to find a good solution for you both that benefits him in the long run.

Some kids might out grow this, my 3 yr old was allergic to cows milk and had to go Soy  for just about 2.5 yrs but she out grew it and out grew the reflux problem too. Its never easy and I know you wish there was a parenting guide for everything that could and might go wrong but there isnt. So calm down if you can take a breath and if your willing try the half and half mix I explained above. But before doing this please please get a call in to your peds.

    Good luck to you both

  6. if he is not having this reaction with the formula, I doubt it is an allergy or lactose intolerance, since the formula you are using is milk based.

How long has this been happening?  Does he do this with other dairy products like cheese, yogurt, etc??

  7. Sounds like he is lactose intolerant. I would try soy milk my daughter was the same way when she was little. She loved that silk milk. She could eat dairy products, but when she drank plain milk she had the runs.

  8. I haven't had this experience with my kids, but off the top of my head it sounds like he may be lactose intolerant.   Are you adding anything to the milk?  It may be an allergy or  intolerance of something else if you consistently give the same thing with the milk.

You will have to take him to the doctors to get it all checked out.  Maybe avoid the milk until you do, it can't be comfortable for the poor thing.

  9. Why are you freaking out?  Cows milk is not needed for human children..if it was..we'd all be cows.  Just make sure he eats a balanced diet.

  10. Most children are on cow's milk by 21 months but every child is different.  You can always try goat milk which is much easier to digest.  You could also try a lower fat milk or skim milk.

If he never gets over -it's not the worst thing.  At least he doesn't have a deadly allergy.

  11. I think s/he is too young to digest the milk, if not s/he's lactose intolerant. Did the Dr. tell you to feed him/her cow's milk?

  12. He will get over it if you will, at least boil the cow's milk. Or you might as well give him half cow's milk mixed with half water.  No sugar, please.

    GOD BLESS THE CHILD :)
