My toilet has a few stains that I cant get rid of?

So I'd like some help here. I've been using the strongest commercially available cleaner I know of. But there are some stuck on stains that I can't seem to remove from my toilet. I'm not sure if I haVe to put some gloves on and get down and dirty, but even so, with what? I wouldn't know what to use to scrape my toilet, so I can effectively remove the stain(s), or whatever gunk is stuck to the rim of the hole. Please recommend stuff I can buy at stores like walmart, if u can. Please help. NO rude comments please. thanks.

if it's from rust or lime, CLR should remove it. if it's organic, using lye (sodium hydroxide) based cleaners should do it (draino and the like). if neither do it, get a new toilet!
