Question:

My toilet is taking too long to fill back up?

After I flush my toilet upstairs it seems to take ages to fill back up. It never used to do this and it does not happen in the downstairs toilet.

It's been going on for quite a while now.

I took the lid off the back to have a look and the water is just trickling through the pipe.

Can anyone help me please??

  1. they may just be a bit of dirt in the pipe from somewhere if you can try taking it all apart and blow through to clear if you feel confident that should help if not get a plumber in to try if that doesnt work get them to change the filling float valve should only be 40 pounds all in at a guess

  2. Have yourself or some one you know get a wrench and a bucket first shut off water to toilet then undo water line look into pipe on both ends some times sand or crosin makes hole in pipe smaller turn on water on shut off valve let drain in bucket to see if it is flowing properly then reattach and hopefully it will solve your problem. good luck

  3. if the water pressure from your sink /bath is fine then its down to the ball valve assembly ( replace it  about 8£ diy ) if not try the stop tap normaly under the kitchen sink make sure its fully turned on>

  4. Ballcock valve may be sticking closed, dismantle and clean.

Adjuster may need s******g in a little so float does not cut off supply too early.

If you have an in line valve in water supply pipe it may not be opened enough, screwdriver slot should be in direction of line of pipe.

  5. debris has clogged the filler pipe, turn off the water, remove the fill tube, replace the filler inside the tank  with a new one ,i doubt you can clear the old one..............tom

  6. The o*****e inside the valve will be choked, turn off the water supply, dismantle the ballvalve, clean the o*****e and re assemble.

  7. The fill valve has filled with 'crud'! If there's a shut-off valve you can change it out yourself! It's really an easy fix! ;-)=

  8. Replace the fill-valve. Home Centers and many hardware stores carry Fluidmaster 400A fill-valves. Under $10 and have really easy installation instructions.
