Sometimes the flush does not work properly, so I tried to fix it. Then when I pulled my hand back(Gloves), it was black. I tried to clean it( the tank), but all that happened the bowl became black too. It was very hard to scrub it off. I have read some answers, but I want to make sure, I will use the right product. Thank you

  1. Has nothing to do with what you ate.  it is you so called fresh tap water that you drink.   However, you have rubber components in there and they slowly disintergrate.  (the black) - the flapper is one of them.   Just dump water down there and continually flush it.    It is just standing water. that gets a chance to settle out.  Not a biggy.  Bleach does more harm to the rubber and plastic parts.

  2. Any green product will do, or just ordinary dish liquid soap, then flush several times.

I clean the toilet tank every week, I just put a bit of baking soda and a few drops of dish soap.  That will bring it back to a clean flush.

  3. I agree with Wally. Simple Green is a great product. What you have is mold. you should hire a very small man to clean it for you.

  4. Ok, let me tell you,  I bought The Works toilet bowl cleaner(comparable to Sno Bol) and on the back of it there were directions to clean the tank as well.  BUT,  I wouldnt try the works until i tried the sno bol first. Its a much better product, just make sure it also has directions on the back to clean the tank.  If all else fails, use the works.

  5. Good lord what have you been eating. Use bleach, lots and lots of bleach. If the toilet is porcelain as it should be this will not harm the toilet in any way. You can also use some Simple Green. This is an environmental friendly cleaner you can pick up at any hardware store.
