I replace the guts in the tank of my toilet today because it was running constantly and i have done that before, i had one of the old supply lines that was solid copper but it cracked when i was disconnecting it so i went and bought a new one at the store, now when i turn on the water it comes on but once i turn up the water at all anything past a slow stream it shuts off the water and won't let me turn it back on without fiddling some and then it does the same thing again, i know it is the supply line because i disconnected it from the tank and tried to just run the water into a bucket and it did the same thing, help please

  1. Nativetung might be onto something. Does your house have an automatic shut-off in the event of a pipe burst? See link below for a description of the product.

  2. It sounds like the shut off valve is bad. Install a new shutoff valve and I think your problem will be solved.

  3. try making sure the line going into the toilet is completely sealed. with some of those new sup lines, they will stop water flow to the fixture if pressure is interupted.. good luck..

  4. If the line that you used had a rubber grommit on it then you may have gotten ruber in the fill valve on the toilet. Take the fill valve off and look for any debries that may be in it.

  5. OK, Look at the very base of the line, does it have a 1 inch long cylinder looking  piece as well? (check the link below.)The hose you bought has a free flow shutoff valve to prevent flooding in case  the hose breaks, or the fixture fails. Usually they do not shutoff with a normal flow, but it may be defective and bee too sensitive. Trade it out.

  6. then change it again
