I can see water dripping in the toliet. and it will constantly refill the water.

from what i read online, i suppose that i need to replace the flush value. should i replace the flapper, too? it should be an easy thing to do, right?

or could it be some other problems? thanks

  1. That black thing in the water part is not having a tight fit..push it down and see if that stops it, you might need to replace it, they dont last forever :(

  2. o o i know!

    hire a plumbewr

  3. The ball c**k valve needs replaced.  You called it the flush valve.  You can buy a Fluidmaster repair kit at any home center.  The kit includes a new flapper as well.

It is an easy repair.  Drain the water tank.  Unscrew the nut on the under side of the tank.  The ball c**k valve will come right out.

  4. It may be the flapper if it's corroded and doesn't seal properly.  The flush valve probably isn't the problem, unless the flusher is hanging and not tight in a standard position.

  5. Flapper and it's easy.

  6. Depending on the type of valve u have. If it's a "ball on a stick" type, bend the stick so that the ball sits lower in the water. It thinks that the water level isn't full enough.

Otherwise yes I'd suggest changing the valve and since u have it out go ahead and change the flapper while your at it.

I think the new valve may even come with a flapper if not. It's an easy fix anyway. Make sure you turn off the water and flush before taking it apart or your in for a big mess..

    Good luck

  7. If you have neighbors whom you are friendly with, ask them to steer you to a reasonable, yet professional handyman. This way, he can come over and take care of the 'toilet,' you don't need to deal with that mess. I wish you positive resolve. Peace!

  8. Sometimes it is the flapper and all you have to do is just clean it off.......just got a bunch of mineral deposits or dirt on it..........you can get a complete kit   and change out everything........I would just try wiping the flapper down before doing anything..........that's worked for me 2 or 3 times. Good luck.

  9. the water movement you see in your bowl "may" be due to the water in the tank being too high and spilling into the overflow tube.

    1) check the tank water level and be sure it's correct

    2) if the level is correct or low, then the problem is the flapper.

either way, i recommend rebuilding the ballcock and replacing the flapper.

replacing the "FLUSH VALVE" is not necessary.  just the "flapper".

DO IT ONCE AND DO IT CORRECTLY and you won't have to worry later!

  10. Go buy a kit at the hardware store that replaces everything in your old tank with one float switch/flapper/etc. all in one.  They're like 7 bucks.

  11. Yes, replace the flapper too. That is where your water is leaking into the bowl.

  12. Do the flapper first.Don't touch anything else. That should do it.

  13. Chances are, you only need to replace the flapper. Inexpensive repair. Good luck.
