  1. hannahs tomato is probably a cherry type and the fruit will get no bigger,, however... ALL tomato plants (except dwarfs) get very large,

mine get over 8 feet tall!!  this is because I plant them outside and they get plenty of sun shine!!!  a plant kept in a container or pot will not get as large as it should before starting to making fruit,,, so all thise time its waiting for the right size but you are restricting it,, so finally the season tells it to bear fruit!!  Next time move the plant when it is about six inches tall to a large pot or outside!!

  2. One thing DO NOT FEED it a high nitrogen fertilizer..this decreases the fruit..and sometimes get none at all..this is why I am suspecting it has taken so long to fruit..You need phospherous based fertilizers on fruiting plants..NOT NITROGEN..also do not water tomatoe plants every day...this is a NO NO..they only need water about once a week when slightly warm and when very hot maybe twice a week...

  3. it will take 4 weeks to produce the fruits

  4. In the Uk this is very late, you should now be seeing toms almost at full size and ready to ripen.

Next year, give them a head start in a cold frame or greenhouse.

Fruit appear about a month after flowers but i suspect that will be too late for your plant, the sun will not be strong enough to ripen them.

  5. Now the first truss has set, you must feed the plant. Adhere strictly to the liquid feed instructions, and do NOT over feed.

  6. Hi mine have been late this year too. I got flowers about a month ago then fruit about 10 days later - now they are about cherry tomato size and just showing signs of colouring. Be patient and make sure they have plenty of water.

  7. Tomatoes are pretty much weeds, and unless you are a commercial grower, or plan to enter a competition, it is not necessary or advisable to feed tomato plants growing in the soil. Just make sure they are well mulched with compost and kept watered. Fertilizing will in general encourage leaf growth at the expense of flowers and fruit. The tastiest fruit, though not the biggest, come from plants that are a bit starved of both nutrients and water.

Mid-August is quite late for flowers, but with a decent amount of sun and heat, you will get fruit in 4 - 6 weeks.

  8. Oh wow your tomato plant has got flowers? My son  bought his tomato plant home from school around 3 months ago as well and we have been watering it everyday and making sure it's in a window with plenty of sun. The other day we all noticed that our tomato plant now has a little green tomato! Just the one and it's very small but i am hoping more will grow soon. The plant hasn't flowered though? :O)
