Question:

My tomatoes are turning brown and hard on the bottoms?

I have some first year tomato plants and the fruits are turning brown and hard on the bottoms. When I cut them open they're pretty much rotted through. I originally thought maybe they'd been touching the ground. But later even looking at fruits totally suspended in the air they're the same. Some were fully ripe and some still orange/green.

Thanks for any help!

  1. This is called blossom end rot a calcium defienciency..here is an article on it's symptons, the reason why it occurs..and the fix for it..for a quick fix you can crush about 4 or 5 rolaids up real fine and sprinkle under each plant then water it in..here is a link on this..
