  1. If the  is black spot is on the bottom, it is called black rot. That is cause by not enough calcium in the soil. Next time mix in some lime or egg shells in the soil before planting the tomato in the spot and you won't have the same problem again.

  2. its called Blossom End Rot

  3. If the black or rotten spots are on the bottom of each tomato and everything else about the tomatoes and the vines look fine, then it could be due to inconsistent watering. Did you have some dry spells, even if it was just one day in which the leaves and limbs were allowed to droop?  That could be the culprit. Tomato plants do not like to go dry.

Blossom end rot is not a disease, but a lack of calcium in the developing fruit. The calcium-deprived tissue breaks down resulting in the characteristic symptoms.

Some people assume this means that their garden soil must be deficient in calcium. However, the real problem is that the plant is unable to absorb the calcium that is in your soil due to uneven supply of water.

It is essential to keep the soil consistently moist rather than let the soil completely dry out and then water fully. This extreme fluctuation is almost a surefire way to induce blossom end rot.

  4. well guess what this is bad year for tomatoes and squash. you knw there are bad years for certian things and this is it i am not sure where you are. but our stuff didn't come out good either and we had quite a number of different tomatoes. so try next spring.
