My topic for my dissertation...?

Question

I am doing my dissertation this year (I do screen studies) and I would like to do it on Tim Burton as an auteur.

I am aware Tim Burton has a huge fan base but I am a huge fan myself and would find it more interesting and easier to choose a topic I love than trying to churn out 10,000 words on something I have no clue about.

Is this too cliche a topic to choose?
