My tower fan won't oscillate or spin?

I just bought a lasko tower fan and I don't know if i didn't assemble it correctly but it doesn't spin or oscilliate at all...i thought it was the sureface but i tried it on all surfaces...

There is a button on the top that needs to be pushed in or pulled out to make it oscillate.

if you put it together properly, perhaps it is faulty.  take the fan & receipt back to the store and get a replacement.
