Question:

My traffic fine was discharged, but is it on my permanent record?

I was fined for having 4-month expired inspection stickers (DEQ inspection). I went to court and the judge discharged my fine because of my explaination.

I don't have to pay any fines, but it's now on my record. Will this be pemanently on my record? Also, will this hurt my car insurance rates?

I live in Oregon.

Thanks.

  1. How do you know it is on your record? Have your rates gone up? Same thing happened to me in Louisiana and it was dismissed and never placed on my records.

EDIT:  That woman probably did mean a moving violation. I think that expired stickers are a non-moving violation or something like that. I cannot remember exactly. Thing of it is, most of the stuff does not get reported to insurance companies if it is below a certain amount. Some courts here do not report it at all. I would not worry

  2. Expired inspection is a non-moving violation and doesn't show up on your record even if convicted and fined.
