I have a 96 Dodge Dakota 6 cylinder truck, 2 wheel drive. It doesnt happen all the time, but sometimes, I will hear and feel a grinding/vibration noise behind the front passenger tire. What could it be? Could the tire pressure be low?

Please, serious answers only. Thanx in advance.

  1. Best bet is the plastic/rubber inner fender lining has become loose and sometimes contacts your tire.

But the grinding, vibration gives me some concern regarding your wheel bearings. I would have them inspected and lubed.  That should be done roughly every 50,000 miles.  Failure to do so dangerous and can actually take of the ends of the axle. And that would reduce your truck to scrap metal, about $2500 to correct.

Everyone neglects maintenance. But eventually it catches up.

  2. check the pressure , if its non that then you have to go get it checked because the there might be a problem with the baring connecting the wheel .

  3. it could be time to have the brakes checked out. the pads can make noise when they where to a point.

  4. What are you doing when you hear the sound.  Turning left or right, going over bumps, stopping, etc?

  5. Check for proper tire air pressure.  Check for worn brakes.  Check for worn wheel bearing.
