  1. No auto maker would recommend 20W50. It's not better in hot weather because thicker oil doesn't flow as well and doesn't get into tight spaces as well. If you're worried about the heat use synthetic. It will protect better and won't break down in the heat.

  2. The 20w50 will be a little thicker on startup than the 10w30, and may make a small difference in overall fuel economy. If you're working the engine hard, for example towing heavy loads then a thicker oil would be a good idea, especially if you've got some miles on your truck's engine. The cooling system will regulate operating temperatures, but oil temperatures aren't directly regulated by the cooling system. Use the 20w50 with confidence, ignore what the other people here are saying.

  3. >>  but recomended 20w 50

    Who?  Not the factory.

    ====

    No matter what the temp outside, the engine automatically regulates the operating temp within 212F and 250F

    the oil is already MULTI-GRADE to compensate for these temp range.

    ====

    Lot of armchair mechanic says these kind of bad recommendation.  But the factory NEVER does.  The factory engineers are much smarter.

    Good luck...
