I bought it in california in 2002 then took it to Mexico for 6 years. I took a risk an drove it back to my mothers house w/o current registration or insurance. I would now like to get insurance/registration/smog certificate. Note: truck has not been registered for 6 years in california. Are there going to be late fees? Since I have to take the bus to get around currently, I dont even know where to begin to get things going. I do have the 2002 year registration in the truck still, its in my name. Help!

  1. Contact the government body that regulates the issuance of titles in CA. Then, you will need to have insurance on the truck and go to the title office, tell them you have been out of the country for six years and now you are back. Be sure to take a copy of your title, the last registration you can find, proof of ID and proof of insurance with you when you go.

Shouldn't be a problem or late charges since you weren't using the truck in CA.

Good luck and I hope this helps!
