well first did you feed him ,how long was he over for, and was he outside when this happen ,all of this questions could play a key in why he died.(sorry for your lost)

he was sick ,so sorry. I have had mine for 36 ys,,I will be sick when they go.

How long did you have him, it could be of old age.

turtles can get bloat(twisting of the intestines) if often flipped over

maybe its the chlorine.

When he flips over, how long does he stay like that for?

Make sure his water is the right temp!

And Make Sure That He Has Enough Food!

Get him out daily to make sure HE/SHE is the right temp..If not take him to a vet
