We just moved into our new house, and the previous owners had Virgin, now we dont have virgin or sky so we cant use that satilite dish. We have a crappy little ariel in our living room and it doesnt work properly.

Should we pay the quoted £177 for a new ariel on the house, or is there a cheaper solution? I need my TV! its driving me mad!

  1. Well if your not planning on getting virgin or sky then yes.

  2. if the tv is driving u that mad i would pay the £177 for a new ariel on the house

  3. Install the aerial yourself, in the loft. Most DIY stores including Wickes have cheap aerial kits which include all the bits you need. Look at other aerials to get a clue to transmitter direction. When you get a picture swing the aerial from side to side with someone watching the tv set to get the best reception.

Then buy a Digibox to get all the Freeview chanels.

  4. I had the same problem and got it fixed for 100 pounds.

It's so annoying every time you change the channel, you have to get up and change the position of the ariel.

  5. Back in the day, in my old flat, i found myself with the same problem. Got myself a 6ft length of co-ax cable, plugged into the telly, stripped the other end and twisted the main central core to a wire coathanger, which i could strategically place around the room for best reception. It even worked with a freeview box!!!!

  6. You can now get quite good indoor Aeriel's from a suppler that will do you for the time being but check out what you are buying first to see if it is suitable for your area. Then maybe get a new aerial at a later date.

  7. Go for "freesat",you need to buy the box,but then you're  all channels for free,..
