My tv is stuck in Video mode please help me!?

my tv requires a universal remote and the tv wont come off video because we were watching a dvd when the batteries fell out of the remote and you have 10 mins to put it back it and so now im stuck and the only way to program my televison is to use the search mode using the channel change button and the channel wont change because it is stuck in video mode so im s.o.l. i think..do you think if i unplug it for a while it will eventually get off the mode?

Switch off from mains, pull out the scart leads from tv and video, replace , switch on mains , pause, then engage dvd again, try it.
