He has no help or prompting of any kind. He simply sits down and does his puzzles concentrating very intently and quietly. I've heard a child his age should only be able to complete 4 piece puzzles. I am amazed!

  1. Was this the first time he saw the puzzle? If so then yes there is a possiblity, and you should get him tested to see if he has a high IQ so you can get him into an advanced student program.

If he can do it in 10 mins after having done it for a while then probably not gifted just smart.

  2. YES he is

  3. Haha wow, yes I would say he is!

  4. There is a possibility he is the only way to know for sure is to get him testing and when he passes have him enrolled into a gifted school so his potential won't be wasted in a regular school. You might also want to buy harder puzzles to give him a little challenge.

  5. HA! My two and a half year old can't complete a 4 piece puzzle. I say have him tested.

    What else can he do?

  6. Sounds like it.  I have a 20 month old who completes a 6-8 piece puzzle.  This is typical.  My 34 month old is not typical.  He is autistic spectrum and gifted.  He was tested by a psychologist who determined him to be gifted.  His IQ range she said is between 130-170.  It was through early childhood intervention, he was referred for speech delay.  At 20 months he had scattered abilities up to 72months.  He now completes a 24 piece jigsaw puzzle (no pic behind it) with prompts.

  7. Personally, I hate the term "gifted".  It's so broad that it doesn't really mean anything other than that a child may be above average in in some area (although these days, merely functioning at grade level, seems to qualify you).  It's also a term that sometimes gets applied to autistic children who can do extraordinary things.

But it does sound like your child has an advanced grasp of spatial orientation, which may be an early indicator of higher than average IQ.

  8. That is very impressive! He is def. advanced for his age but you should get him tested to see if he is gifted. Most schools do screenings around this time of year...even if they are not going into kindergarten. contact your local school to find out if they do that.

  9. wow!

  10. My first daughter was like that, at 9 months old she could mix 2 of those wood puzzles with the pieces that fit in together and knew where each went and to which puzzle it went to. at 1.5 shes could do 25 piece puzzles and at 2 she was up to 50 piece puzzles, the thing that really got me was that when she did these, i would open up the puzzle box for her, she would throw it on the floor and then do the puzzle backwards!! NO ONE belived me until i had them come over and show them! she was very gifted, shes grown now and is 10 and very normal in her age range. she gets all A's and B's shes very interested in things like space, science, art, marine biology just keep practicing with him and bring in new mind bending toys for him, never think that he cant do it, cause everytime i bought something thinking she was to young, she suprised me EVERY time! good luck and keep up with your lil one, could have the next astronaut on your hands lol
