Question:

My two female cats and a surgery question?

So my two female cats are 2 years old in september and as a birthday gift we want to give them neutering surgeries. By now we've had no problems whatsoever because we live in an apartment and they don't have contact with any other cat anyhow soon we will be moving to a big house with garden and we are afraid that they can get pregnant if any street cat can sneak in Now my question is related to the surgery We live in Ecuador which is a country that is starting to love pets and caring more for them but not in a way to have very hygienic or safe standards for surgery Even in the most expensive place we've seen the way they treat pets that are in intensive care the place is not really clean and they don't give enough attention to them. I am currently checking with many others but one is worse than the first! I'm worried that they can get sick or even worse die. So I would like to know from Vets, or any other person involved what are the features I should see in a clinic or hospital and how can I make sure they will be safe for them. Is there any questionnaire i can have so i can ask here the doctors and be sure they wont kill my two precious daughters? what should I see in a clinic in order to make sure it's safe?

I really appreciate your help or any tips you can give me. People here thinks that because they're just animals they can just perform any surgery in a dirty room. I hate that mentality but unfortunately still happens in countries like this!!!

  1. you are better off calling a vet in the united states for obvious reasons and ask them what kind of questions you need to ask the vets in your country.I know exactly what you mean when you say those are your little daughters.  Good Luck I hope you find what your looking for.

  2. This is a tough one!  The best thing I can think of is to ask for a tour - see how clean it looks.  And if you have any responsible pet-loving friends or neighbors, ask them where they had their pets spayed or neutered.  References can mean a lot.  And is the vet licensed?  They should have some sort of degree prominently displayed somewhere in the office.

    Good luck!
