  1. I hate to sound like a breastfeeding n**i but I nursed my daughter for the first three weeks of her life and it was really hard-we were both miserable and I felt she wasn't getting the hang of it OR getting enough food so we started formula feeding. And that's when her sleeping through the night and being an extremely pleasant baby stopped. She spit up, cried, and farted constantly. After about two weeks I couldn't take it anymore and decided to start nursing again. We didn't have a single problem.

I support your decision to give your daughter formula, but I just wanted to share my experience. Breastmilk is natural.. it doesn't hurt their tummy and it really is 'best.'

Other than that--if nursing is not an option for you, when she was on formula.. it was Similiac Alimentum. The doctor recommended it since when we tried the "gentle" kind she still fussed

    Good luck~

Edit: I hate that I can't recommend breastfeeding because of my experiences without being judged for it. I believe I said I supported her decision to formula feed her daughter and offered my opinion on an alternative. Please read before YOU judge. Thanks.

  2. If you have changed her formula recently that is why they stink. a baby can also get constipation and stomach pains if you change their formula right away it is always good if you are going to change formula to do it gradually.. TO the breast feeding natzi sometimes women physically can not breast feed so dont judge..   Not sure if you have changed the formula or not but breast fed babys farts reek to hehe

  3. Formula-fed babies tend to have stinkier poops and more gas simply because of the nature of formula feeding.

Breastfed babies get hardly any air, because they drink directly from the breast where there is no air.  In a bottle, there's little you can do to remove all of the air bubbles, especially towards the end of a feeding.  Make sure you burp baby well halfway during a feeding, even if she cries in protest of having bottle taken away.

Second, formula uses cow's milk which contains much higher levels of lactose and other elements that are not normally found in human breastmilk.  It is nearly impossible to replicate breastmilk in a formula, and therefore you're going to have more material that's indigestible, and comes through is waste, so there just is more waste.

Human intestines contain billions of bacteria to help keep us healthy in a symbiotic relationship.  When you have more waste material making it to the colon, the bacteria tend to proliferate more.  Some of their waste is actually gas that smells very bad, depending on the type of bacteria, type of gas waste they produce, and how much air makes it to the colon.  Since there's more of this bacteria needed to help break down what we cannot, there is a LOT more of this smelly gas.

Breastfed babies have more of a "sweet" smelling waste and gas, and it's more orange.  Formula-fed babies have putrid waste and gas, and it's usually some shade of green or brown.  This is absolutlely normal for a formula-fed baby and still provides your baby with all the nutrients she needs.

  4. That is just the age their gas starts to smell usually.

  5. because farts stink, expect hers to smell just as bad as yours!

  6. The breastfeeding n**i was not judging but only sharing her experience, read her post again!  Here is my experience, I breastfed and my baby still had gas! I think it is just their little digestive systems getting in the groove....I know of other woman who just breast ONLY too and had the same problem, I know someone else who did both and the baby had gas. Gas happens I gas oops , I mean guess.  haha

lighten up women! we are supposed to help each other not be meanies.

congrats on your little bundle  :)

  7. My daughter is just a little older than yours and she is exactly the same. I kept blaming my poor 4 year old for the smell. It's doesn't matter which formula she is on, I had to switch my daughters twice and she was the same with both.

  8. idk , my gal's gas stinks too..LOL

sometimes she rivals the dog and he's BAD...LOL

gas comes from digestion and it's completely normal...
