Question:

My two week old pups still do not have their eyes open.?

A Rottie that we found and rescued two months back has just had litter of pups. They are two weeks old today. All my books say that they should have their eyes open in 7-10 days, but they still all are closed. And one has had some "goopies" in one eye. The vet said not to worry. Have any of you dealt with this before and how long did it take for yours to open their eyes? Also how long did the Moma bleed for. She still is a little.....

  1. Hopefully they have opened their eyes by now.  If not, the one thing that you have to watch out for is that they don't have an eye infection.  You'd see swelling and maybe drainage (quite a bit of goop.)  They can take a little over 10 days to open and still be quite fine.  Call the veterinarian if you still have concerns.  S/he may want to take a look.  Enjoy your pups.

  2. I would think this belongs in Dogs, honey.

I would re-ask it in the Dog section and you will get more answers.
