he keeps on drawing all over his little legs and whatever other body part is open to his reach. i confiscated all drawing and writing utensils from his reach, but he finds them, or uses my lipstick or something. ive talked to him, and every time he does it i act upset, but he doesnt seem to mind much..id appreciate some ideas on how to get him to stop..preferably from moms. thanks!

i give him paper to draw on, but that lasts for only a while before hes doodling away on himself again.

  1. That's normal behavior for a 2 year old, especially boys it seems. Just make sure you keep the permanent markers and anything else that could damage his skin (or anything else he decides to draw on) put up where he won't find them. Maybe letting him have some of the washable crayolas or markers would be a way to stop him from seeking other means to draw on himself.

  2. For god sake HE'S 2! Im not a mum but my lil bros and sis' ( 4 ) if kids dont draw on them selves thats not normal. He's probably goign to be really artisitic when he grows up. Just hide the things and if he finds them then tough luck mate he does it again, how about putting it some where out of reach? and he's 2 he doesnt care about anyone else's emotions but his, how can you expect him to go sorry mum i wont draw on myself again? lol

  3. leave him be

better than him advancing to the walls

  4. washable markers might be a good solution. I have given my almost 3 year old color wonder art supplies for over a year now. it is impossible for them to color on thier bodies and other non-paper things.

  5. he's a baby

get him a book to write in or something

  6. Yes this is typical, but if you're putting them out of his reach, how is he getting them?

  7. my 3 yr old loves to draw on himself and he calls them his tatoos.  I just let him have the writing utensils that wash off easily and plan on giving him a bath daily.  He enjoys it and I figure there's no harm in it.  If you really want him to stop you're going to have to watch him like a hawk and follow him around everywhere so that you can stop him from writing on himself.

  8. My 23 month old daughter is super cheeky and will do anything she knows will get our attention - and usually she thinks it's funny if we get angry.  She pulls the cat's tail, throws things off her highchair and, like your son, likes drawing on herself, the toilet seat, bathtub etc.

I have found that the less fuss I make about something, the less she will do it because it's not so fun if I'm not paying attention!

Also, as far as the drawing thing goes, you can get special markers that will only draw on a special colouring in book and not on any other surfaces, including little body parts... good luck!

  9. None of my kids ever did that. But then we didn't have people around who had tattoos. I'm wondering if that's where he got the idea. Are there people around who have tattoos? Keep doing what you're doing. But maybe get a coloring book ( let him help you pick one out)  and lots of paper. Always sit down with him when he uses these . Color with him.  After about 10-15 min, put all materials away. ( 2 yr olds have a short attention span). Do it 2 days in a row. Then use it as a reward , if he doesn't color on himself.

  10. Don't worry about it too much just make sure you don't have anything toxic that he can draw with. My nephew is 6 and i think he has finally stopped drawing on himself, now he gets those stick on tattoos and puts them all over his body!!! I don't know why he doesn't really know anyone with tattoos he just likes them!! Since he was about 3 he has been writing his name on everything he writes it forwards and backwards and all sorts of ways, so often you would see him with his name written up one leg and backward on the other leg and both arms it's crazy!! Just wait till he starts drawing faces on his privates!!! It must just be a boy thing I think.

He's probably just being creative and you never know he may be a really good artist one day! Good Luck!!

  11. its a phase he will grow out of it as annoying as it is just get the washable kind in case he finds them again or if it really bugs you get rid of them all together and put anything writable up in a high spot. It takes a lil effort but at 2 punishment maybe to harsh and he will not understand.... It was easier for me cause my daughter is 5 and she started doing this. One time while i was driving she got a hold of a pen and drew happy faces on each of her lil toes on the bottom then told me to look and i turned and she started wiggling them i almost crashed laughing sooo hard. But i explained to her that drawing is for paper not her body.... good luck

  12. Its completely normal. If u already take the things away and give him paper there is not much u can do.

  13. Try Crayola Color Wonder... it only colors on special paper.  That way he won't be actually coloring on himself or his clothes.  Eventually when he realizes that it won't do what he wants it to, he'll stop trying to draw on himself.

    Good luck!

  14. I don't know about you, but I love drawing on myself.

  15. He's 2!!  This is typical behavior for a 2 yr old.  He'll grow out of it.
