Whenever she see's one in like a fast food place or outside she starts crying and asks us to throw it away where she can't see it. You can see the fear on her face. I find it really weird. Is there anything that could have caused this or is it just a two year old quirk that she'll get over as she gets older. I'm not worried but it interests me.

  1. You could try asking why she doesnt like or is afraid of feathers.

  2. It could be one of two things: It could be a sign of some kind of phobia; or it may just be a quirk that she will get over. I'm leaning toward her just being afraid because she doesn't know what it is. My suggestion is to keep feathers away from her for now, but maybe take her to a park with a lake or pond to see some ducks. (Bring some bread).

  3. Who knows how the human mind works when it comes to fear! My sister has had a crippling fear of frogs...she's almost 40 now and controls it, but she still has the fear.

Just be sensitive to her and don't tease her about it. Let her know that you are a safe, soft place to fall when she needs you.

    Have a great weekend!

  4. i think all kids go through wierd things my one yr old was afrais of duck type whistles for a long time no real reason but she grew out of it. have you tried showing her gentle they are ok and sometimes fun... no teasing when doing it just you walk up touch it and walk away she will see you doing it and hopefully grow to see it is ok..

  5. my 3yr screams at birds, cats, dogs, bugs she recently getting a bit better like if a dogs on the lead shes ok but if its loose she goes mad i never understood this she is getting better but what started it i havent a clue!!

  6. I'm not sure exactly why she's scared of feathers, but I have a few ideas:

*Little kids always find weird things scary

*My brother thought mushrooms were scary

*My other brother thought this toy dice we had was scary?

*I thought lady birds were scary

*My mum thought trees were scary

So, you might never know why she's scared of feathers.. but as you can see it is completely normal and she will DEFiNATELY grow out of it :).

  7. maybe she doesn't like the texture of them and the way they feel

  8. It's just a phase in her life, she'll get over it. No need to worry, a lot of little kids have wierd fears. Sometimes they'll do it for attention or sometimes it really does scare them. Maybe she's had nightmares about them because I don't know how you can be traumatized by a feather...

    Hope it works out.

  9. My daughter is deathly afraid of vacuum cleaners, and she used to be absolutely terrified of balloons. But now she's 19 months and loves the punching ball balloons, so it's just something that occurs. They are starting with imiginations, although maybe she was divebombed by a bird once? Lol, it's a phase.
