My two year old will not got to sleep.?

I am up with her til midnight, even if she hasn't had a nap. Her Dr. gave her some meds. one time, but I had to stop them because they weren't working they just made her run around and scream for two hours. Her Dr. says "It's just a phase" The magical answer when they really don't know. Has anyone experinced this? What did you do?

My 2 1/2 year old still stays up till 11 at least- at 2 it was around 3 am(with no day nap). Now I find the only easy way to get him to sleep is put on one of his kiddie movies and make him lay down and watch it (get up and run around I pause it- then usually lays down again). I let him go to sleep that way with some warm milk; then I just move him to bed when he falls to sleep. Sometimes we take him for awalk outside for 1/2 hour or so- with him walking- and that tires him out and he will go to bed earlier. I don't know what else to do and that works the best- if I don't do that he's up till at least 2 or 3am. Good luck!
