  1. The ears self clean but the wax needs to be soft - my doctor told me to use olive oil dripped in the ear  from a spoon. I told my son that we would do it to each other, he dripped it my ear first (make not a sound mummy!) and then I did his. This helped to soften it up, but doesn't clean it out, you just let it be. The bits that may come out into the outer ear you can use a wash cloth on and do it when he's asleep.

If he gets a lot of ear aches best get him checked

  2. Normally ear wax clears itself up and over cleaning usually results in plugged ears from impacted wax. Many well-intentioned parents actually plug their child's ears.  You might want to check with your child's doctor about the best way to go about this.

  3. They have these drops.. All you do is put the drops in his ears and use the sucker to pull out all the wax. It doesn't hurt the kid but it softens the wax so it comes right out. You may be hurting him with out knowing it. Its hard to tell on some one else when to stop pushing. Thats why i love this method. In less then a min the wax is so soft if he puts his head on a paper towel it comes dripping out. Then you can use the sucker (i don't know what it's called, they use a similar thing in hospitals to get the stuff out of there noise when they are born) to get any remaining out. Or you can just use the sucker and the job is done in mins.

  4. Perhaps you could desensitize him by just playing with the side of his face and each day move slowly towards the ear ie approach and retreat. If it gets too much back off. Make a game of it. Make it feel nice. Shorter periods more often.

Have you had the doctor check this out. Not cleaning the ear shouldn't cause earaches. Another option could be to talk to the chemist about drops. Goodluck

  5. Your child's ears don't need cleaning. I'm afraid to say that if he has hard wax it's probably as a result of you compacting it while trying to clean them. Just leave them alone and let nature do its job.

  6. If he is a heavy sleeper, try to do it while he is sleeping.  Worked with my son.

  7. Dont clean them, they clean themselves and it creates the wax to protect them, only get the bits that are sticking out.

This works on my niece "Oh Jade! You have potatos growing in your ears!"

    "What?!?!?!"

"Yes! Oh no! We need to get these out!"

Then she is like "Oh okay!!!"

    haha xx good luck xx

  8. haven't you heard the expression don't put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear? Ears are quite good at cleaning themselves and it is a natural protection to infections. Leave his ears alone

  9. you can buy an ear wax softener from ur pharmacist. you insert a few drops at different intervals and that will soften the wax and hopefull drain itself.......

  10. take him to a ENT specialist
