I normally dont believe in this kinda stuff. But I have not seen my uncle for about 15 years. He died suddenly and he was a good man. But yesterday night I was in my bed and as soon as I started it happened the light went flickering for a second. I froze for a second but then carried on and then it happened again for about a 5 second. I was horrified but convinced myself it must be just him saying good buy as the funeral is only in 4days and I wont be able to attend. I was unable to sleep the whole night as I was too scared to close my eyes.

I told my mum and she tried to calm me down saying it might have been the light bulb. But I know it was not. My light works fine now and it has never ever happened before.

what this might mean. I was in the bed for 4 hours but it happened exactly when I started the prayer for him.

I am still very scared and can not stop thinking about it.

  1. I wouldnt be scared. Or horrified. Yeah, its a little freaky, but he's just saying goodbye to you. hes letting you know that he's gonna pass on and says thanks for praying for him :D

  2. Not just from my experiences, but from others that I've talk to....

Concern Prayers of a loved one are heard in heaven....the more you pray concern prayers the more likely they will come.

The light perhaps was a hint, because they do know we scare easy, they will hint a lot first before they actually show themselves.... and it's because they are concern about your concerns.....but truly there is no need to be scared, I know it's hard not to, it took me a long time, and I still become a bit scared at times when they come.

  3. Why be scared , if it was your dead uncle , take solace in the fact that there is a life after death

  4. maybe your breath caused it to flutter.

  5. The chances are this was something rather mundane like an electrical surge caused by the weather which just happened to occur at the time you were thinking of your uncle.

Other than that as you say he was a good man there really is nothing to be afraid of - if it was your uncle.  Besides, all things considered it is only the living who pose any kind of threat, not the dead.

  6. Forget it, we've had lots of power cuts lately due to bad weather and lots of people are having flickering lights - I know I am.

  7. don't be scared... I know how spooky that can be, but spirits can't hurt you and this one didn't want to. I would say that yes, chances are good it WAS your uncle. I have a friend who had a spirit who flicker the light bulb in answer to her question (once for yes, two for no, that sort of thing). I get the feeling it's probably your uncle, because I get the sense he just wants you to know he's there and that it's okay, that HE'S okay.

mmmm. I wish I could tell you more, but that's all I get. I think it was a comforting gesture. Talk out loud to him if you feel the need to. He can hear you. He's on the other side and he's fine, he's at peace.

peace and love to you and your family

  8. when my mom's mom died, she got a phone call every night at 3 am (said to be the hour of spirits) and it always said "mom" was calling, which was obviously not possible.

  9. Okay my brother died in 1995.  about two years after his death we had an incident with our washing machine.  The machine was on at 2AM.  The machine has to be manually started by physically pulling out the main k**b.  It was not on when we went to bed.   I dont know why but I felt it was him.  Why he did it I dont know.  My brother died abruptly and to this day I feel he is still trying to contact us.  The washer incident would be some crude way my brother would use.    One day I will find out till then RIP..

  10. Well obviously when somebody in the family dies its an upset and sometimes when unusual things happen at this time we attribute all sorts of meanings to an event.

Have a chat with yr Mum and that will help u and her because I expect yr Mum is feeling quite upset as well, was it her brother or your father's brother?

  11. he jsut saying good bye, be happy

  12. no need to be scared it was a light bulb

  13. It may have been a coincidence or his spirit coming back as you said to say goodbye.Im alot like you and have thoughts of if things like this are real are not and I know your scared but if you have the guts to try it agian to see what happens email me b/c I find this kind of scary and interesting.

  14. You have nothing to be afraid of ... yes, the lamp did 'flicker' and it was your uncle telling you that he's fine, he's made it to Heaven and he'll see you when you get there.  He didn't mean to frighten you and I'm sure he understands that you can't go to his funeral.  I had 'visits' from my mother when she died, and my mother-in-law when she died ... as soon as I 'recognized them' I said "Okay, I got the message, you can go now' they went away ... they still watch over me and my husband, but they don't 'play tricks' any more, for which I am extremely greatful.  I'm 57 ... it wasn't a 'ghost' but the spirit of your uncle telling you that he's okay and happy and he'll see you later.  Now go to bed and sleep well, because he will be watching over you to keep all of the bad spirits and ghosts away.

  15. I like to believe it was a sign that you are thinking of him - when my mum died 2 little birds kept fluttering around me & the cloud in the sky looked just like her.

  16. the human capacity for hope is beyond ridiculous

  17. strange things happen sometimes when you least expect it. Lights in my house sometimes flickers last time was 4 years ago, its just fault with the line.

10 years ago when i was praying for my grandad, the TV Switched off and as soon as I finnished it was back on. I later found out that the energy suppliers were working on the line.

  18. You said that your uncle was a good man and it sounds like you loved him. If you saw him alive in your room would it scare you  (I mean BEFORE he died)? If it was him...he's the same person..just  out of a body. Would you want someone to be scared of you if you died and came back to visit them? Try to remember that he's no different now...only he doesn't have his body.He wouldn't want you to be scared of him. So sorry for your loss..and that you didn't get to be around him as much as you wanted to.

  19. Sorry, but my gut reaction was "coincidence"

Usually, i do believe in "this kinda stuff", I believe in the after life because it's a nice idea, and i believe in being psychic, because of personal experience, but to be honest, this just seems like coincidence.

Although, i live in a house where lights flicker constantly, so to me it's not unusual, though it could be for you. If you believe it's ur uncle, then keep trying to connect! The worst than can happen is nothing

  20. I think he came to say good night in person.

    You're lucky.

  21. maybe your uncle is the spirit. he maybe had problems with his lights. maybe it is a sign for you.

  22. Once is a fluke, twice is a coincidence and three times is a sign. Odds are it was nothing more then personal superstitions effecting how you view a natural phenominon. Brown outs, power surges, or other various power discrepencies and easily cause any lights to flicker. Was there high winds that day? Was it raining? Even if it was sunny, perhaps there was just a surge fromt he company. If it continually happens every day, no matter what time you pray, you may have something going. Just once however, and its nothing to really fear.

  23. You know, when my father died I heard his voice, just once.Sometimes they come back to say good by. He is your uncle , there is nothing to be afraid of.

Of course a lot of natural things make lights flicker.

  24. He is coming back to tell you he heard your prayer, lucky that he heard this.

  25. So for your loss, I don't understand why your scared, unless you think he is going to haunt you.  Most people that get a sign from a person who has passed away usually don't get scared they find peace and comfort from it.

  26. Weeiiiiirrrrrddddnesss.
