  1. He cannot come to the UK just to get benefits or NHS treatment.

He can come here on a work permit (which I doubt he can do if he's disabled), or if a member of the family can prove that they can support him (with no recourse to public funds), or on a student visa (and I doubt he's a student) - but that would still leave him with no recourse to public funds.

The only other way he might be able to come would be if her had a parent or grandparent who was a British citizen - he can then apply for an ancestry visa, although I still think thats "no recourse to public funds"

Sorry but you can't come to the UK just to claim benefits!

  2. Unlikely that he can do this.  He cannot get a work visa, I assume, so he would not be able to come to the UK and stay.

  3. I doubt very much that he could come into the UK just to claim benefits. He would probably need to be able to show that he has enough funds to support himself if he is unable to work - or his sponsor has enough money to take care of him. So many people are trying to get into the UK now, they need to try and make sure somehow that people aren't just coming in to take advantage. Get him to call the British Embassy in the USA - they should be able to answer his questions better. :-)

  4. Everyone else is doing it. Come and join the party.

Don't worry about learning to speak English properly - nobody else can either.
