Well I don't know the exact name for the type of special immigration process he was being put through, or why he was put through it. He came with his family from Indonesia to visit for 2 weeks and he was the only one that was asked to be put through the special process. It only lenghtened his proccesing time for about 15-30 minutes. I'm still curious though, what was he being put through and why?

  1. Im glad to hear it. It means homeland security is doing their job.

  2. Profiling an entrant is a special process in immigration.

  3. It sounds like your uncle went through a process commonly  called 'Special Registration'.  Your uncle is now in the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System (NSEERS).  This registration limits where he can depart from and enter into the U.S.  Your uncle should have received a handout that explained what NSEERS is and what he needs to know.  If he didn't or if you're curious, you can go to http://www.ice.gov/pi/specialregistratio... for more information.

It is not uncommon for males from Indonesia to go through special registration.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) can subject anyone they like to special registration - even U.S. citizens. Rachel should just make sure that she doesn't study anything of "interest" or travel to any country of "interest" to the DHS otherwise she may find herself going through special registration one day...
