Question:

My uncle works for the railroad (CN) and told me that I should attempt to get a job with them...?

But I just graduated with a degree in Speech Communication, emphasis in Public Relations. What types of railroad positions would a PR major best fit in?

On many major mid-western rail companies' websites, few jobs are listed... but my uncle keeps telling me that they are hiring (and that they would hire me). Do all of the jobs make it to the websites, or should I just submit my resume without listing a specific job opening?

Need job, please help!

  1. My father worked for CNW for years. His pension when he passed away allowed me to go to college.

Working for the RR is just working for another company. You can't limit yourself to any company. Right now you need to get exp in your field regardless of what that company does.

Yes jobs are available in many cases that aren't 'posted' so always send a resume. It would be best if you called and could direct to a specific person.

Tell your Uncle you appreciate his advice and you are sending a resume out and to please keep his ears open.

In the meantime you need to make your current 'job' your job search.

    Good luck and be persistent.

  2. Talk directly to the human resources person on each railroad you are interested in.

do not trust your future to a response from a web site,

To be taken seriously you need face time or at least telephone time with the people hiring.

be persistent, let them know you really are serious and are willing to work to get the job, that tells them a lot.

there should be several postitions you would qualify for.

good Luck!! and dont give up.

  3. Go to This Website And you Will find the Best JOb That You are looking for.

  4. 1st off, dont do it unless you are tired of sleeping nites, having weekends and holidays off with family, and being able to have a life......if that doesnt bother you, try all the websites....and it sounds like you need to be in Human resources or marketing....NOT transportation

  5. if u have somone on the inside, and they have a position that will fit your degree... then go for it for sure!

  6. just submit it,, not all job openings are on ads.. puting something on ads means money.. can you submit my resume to?
