  1. If you are still in the county.....Generally, you can go to immigration and request a time extension of upto 6 months (I think).  You will be asked as to why you need the extension....make sure you have a compelling reason.

  2. You should apply for a new one in the country you are resident in by going to the nearest embassy or consulate.

A visa expiring while you are in the US doesn't matter--you can be legally in the US with an expired visa (which is only for applying for entry when you arrive.)  If you need to leave and come back, you'll need to apply for a new visa overseas, there's no way to do it in the US anymore.

If you are currently in the US, what counts is the duration of stay granted by the immigration officer when you entered the country--usually six months for a B2 visa--check the stamp in your passport.    If you need to extend your authorized stay, you need to contact DHS.

  3. a tourist visa cannot be extended, one must leave if it is about to expire, if you overstay? and get caught? you will be barred from ever entering the USA for 10 years, and to top it all? you will be barred from other countries, who? will check before giving you another visa, think very hard on what you have to do?

it will cost you.........in the long run.

  4. Go home! That is what you promised to do when you entered the country on a TOURIST visa! If you want to immigrate then when your in your own country apply for an immigrant visa and go to the back of the line!

  5. Try to extend the visa at the Immigration and Naturalization Services when you are in the US but if you are in other countries, wait for it to expire and file a renewal.

  6. Well, it depends on what you're really talking about. If the visa in your passport is expiring, you'll need to go home, apply at the embassy and renew it, or at least apply. If it's a tourist visa, and you've been doing what you're supposed to as a tourist, it shouldn't be a problem. If you're already in the US, and you want to extend your stay here, you need to go to USCIS and ask for an extension. However, if your authorized stay is about to stay, you'll be in trouble if they eventually say no. If you stay past your authorized stay without permission, you risk making yourself ineligible for any visa for 3 years, or even 10, depending on how long past your stay you remain here.

  7. You're talking about a visa- it's a document that allows you to ask for admission.  When you arrive, you'll get an I-94 which is a document stating how long you can stay.

You renew your visa at a consulate. You can apply for an extension of the I-94 at an office of legacy immigration aka CIS.
