Usually my 1 and a half year old cat is running around the house like crazy, tearing up furniture and chasing her little grey mouse all over the place. But when I got home from the beach she was sneezing uncontrollably, At first I thought it was from the salt from the ocean, but it doesn't appear to be so seeing we've been home for a couple hours. She was fine last night and this morning. She's been sneezing and very lethargic. She just wants to crawl in her bed and sleep. I gave her a little bit of milk (her favorite) to see if that would perk her up, but nothing. And whenever I pick her up to cuddle (which she usually loves) she finds a way to get away and goes back in her bed. She still purrs and meows, but I'm worried. Should I take her to the vet? Or give it a few more days?

  1. Don't mind the first answer.

I would call the vet. Remember, just b/c a cat purrs doesn't mean that they are alright. It has been proven time and time again that cats purr when they are hurt or feeling sick too. I have an "insane" cat too! If she started acting like yours all of a sudden, I would search my place to see what she could have gotten into and then close all open windows. She might be having a reaction to something outside. But, if things don't clear up in a few hours, I would call the vet.

  2. most likely your cat has an upper respitory infection (aka cold) and shes not feeling so hot. my cat had one of those, wouldn't eat, drink, wouldn't play, was always going to sleep, watery eyes, fever.

we had him put down, but not because of the infection; but yeah the vet will give you amoxicillin.

  3. She probely has a commen cold or allergies. Just wait it out a couple days and if she is still sneezing and/or has watery eyes take her into the vet to get meds.I would not give her milk anymore, it can and will mess up her digestive system. Even just for a treat , its highly not recomended.

  4. If any pet is not acting normal, you should always take it to the vet. You never know how serious it could be, and that one extra day could be one day too long. Could just be a simple upper respiratory infection, but could also be something very serious.

  5. Usually when a cat becomes lethargic Its something serious I would take her to the vet Dont wait Shes obviously in a lot of pain I wouldnt give her milk right now Most cats get an upset stomach from milk Its ok when they are kittens But once they grow up Their stomachs cant handle it Im not saying sll cats are like that Because one of my cats loved milk and never got sick from it Which is really rare Anyways dont hesitate Take her in now Im sure you dont want her to be in any pain Which shes in right now I hope its nothing serious Send me a msg when you find out whats wrong with her I want to know shes ok Thanx and good luck
