My vacume cleaner does the opposite of suck.?

i have a brand new eureka vacume cleaner and when i vacume the carpet, it does fine. then when i turn it to the bare floor function to vacume the hardwood floors it just sprays dirt and fuzz everywhere. what is wrong with it? am i not doing something right?

you broke the belt you need to replace it just turn upside down and remove the screws and you will see where the belt goes and take the old one in with you to get a new one and replace and put back together.

Mine has another dial on it that says floor and hose near the top of the vacuum. Mine sprays the dirt if I don't turn this dial.

it sounds like you have an upright vac. they are made for the most part to do only carpet. the problem might be that when you go to the bare floor the brushes that normally kick dirt etc. up in to the vacuum tube are to high off the floor so that they just push the dirt out of the way check to see if there is a floor setting, which would make it work better.
