Question:

My velodyne subwoofer sounds like a fog horn ...what do i do?

i already checked the fuse..it was not blown. the speaker is not ripped either!!

  1. Check you wires, some times this can be the problem...of not stop playing CD's of Fog horns.


  2. Not much info to go on so I'll just assume that you might be making the subwoofer play mid to upper frequencies rather than low 80Hz and below.

    You need a crossover network on your amp or a dedicated subwoofer speaker wire connect to correct for this. Not sure how you're set up.

  3. It MIGHT also be speaker placement too...

    Why don't you SET your subwoofer crossover setting to 120 up to 200 hz first....then listen.

    And then if it still sounds like a foghorn, set it up on something HARD for testing it first...like your wooden coffee table...if it still sounds foggy, then you should have it checked by the manufacturer....NOT the local Fix-it shop unless there is a CLEAR CUT failure....

    You need the manufacturer to deal with your problem especially when you need the acoustics measured up against a STANDARD reference to see what is bad.....

    And believe me...there's a lot that can go wrong with a subwoofer besides ripping....
