My venus fly trap has a long stem growing out the middle with little buds on the end what do i do with it?

i think its heading for the ceiling its very long and the buds dont seem to be doing anything

its just a flower head. Leave it, it'll look nice.

That's a flower stalk.  Unless you really want the seed, you can cut it off.  If it's already pretty tall, you might as well let it flower and then pollinate the flowers.  Venus Fly Traps can self pollinate, so all you need to do is touch the pollen from the stamen to the stigma.  You can read more about it and see photos here:

If you do decide to cut it off, stick it in the ground.  If you're lucky, after a few weeks, little plantlets start to form around the base.
