  1. Your NV-GS180 is a miniDV tape based camcorder. If you are trying to import video from the miniDV tape to your computer, USB will not work.

    You need to install and use a Firewire 400 (IEEE1394a) port on the computer. Once this is working, using a firewire (i.Link) cable, MovieMaker can "capture" that video when the camcorder is in Play/Edit mode. Yes, Firewire, IEEE1394a and I.Link are all the same thing.

    Firewire does not use device specific drivers. When the firewire port is working properly, the video import will just work.
