My visio l 32 shows picture for 6 seconds then...

Question

I was hooking up a new dvd recorder to my visio L32 and the recorder was defective and now my tv wont let me turn it off.. It will not repond to remote or me turning it off manually. I have to unplug it. Then while it is on it only shows the picture for 6 to 7 seconds then black screen 6 to 7 then back.. But you can hear the show the whole time...
