  1. If this is in one eye only then you should seek immediate consultation with an eye doctor.  It could be several different things, none of which is really very good.  If it happened both eyes and was transient you may have been experiencing an ocular migraine.  But to be safe I would let an eye doctor look no matter whether it was one eye or two.
