Hi, i have a PC running vista 64 bit and i can ping www.bbc.co.uk fine and the dns entries are correct, I have checked for viruses and found none.

Some programs can also run their auto-update routines from the internet fine but i still cannot browse the web.

Does anyone have any ideas? thanks,

  1. type in the IP address of bbc's website (from the ping) in  the browser & see if you can get to it to rule out DNS issues. if you cant then try a different browser.

  2. Doogle,

Shut down the pc, unplug the power supply from your modem for 10 seconds, plug it back in, then power on your machine. This is of course assuming you can't access any websites.

of course you could just do an ipconfig /release /renew from a cmd prompt.

  3. Do a System restore it seems like a spyware problem. If it doesnt please download the superantispyware program and remove the programes.

  4. Clear browser cookies and cache? Try a different browser to test? Flush DNS Resolver Cache (just in case)? Reboot computer even?
