My vocabulary seems to improve when summer ends. Why?

I find myself using words I haven't used since spring all of a sudden. I think I'm conditioned to be dumber in the summer. Is this possible? I work in colleges and have had easier summers academically for most of my life.

It's the same with me, because during summer I don't work, I just sit back and relax, and play video games and go out and reduce my reading and let the lovely weather go to my head, so well, naturally, I get a little dumber because I'm not stimulating my mind. Then towards the end I start doing homework, and although it's hard at first because my mind goes blank, I force my brain to start working again and get back into the mindset so everything starts to come flooding back...
