It's really weird, when I practice with my teacher, I feel fine, but when I practice at home, my voice feels like I've been yelling after I exercise. It's always after I exercise and before I sing. But I haven't tried singing first. (obviously I would do this so I could see if it was specifically an exercise or if it is my placement in general). Also, at my voice class I prepare with water or something, and maybe my voice is always dry?

  1. Hi Hello

If you have a sore throas or it is raspy, you are doing something wrong.

Here is the correct technique to sing and not get a sore throat even after 2 hours of singing.

Lie on the floor and put your hand on your stomach and breathe in. The hand rises and when you breathe out, it drops. That is how you should sing...THROUGH THE DIAPHRAM AND NOT THE CHEST OR THROAT.

The way tou talk is the way you sing. If you want to scream, you take a deep breadth and you push with your stomach YES?  That is the same technique when you want to sing loud. The stomach muscle (diaphram) is your volume and the harder you push, the louder your voice gets.

If you do this correctly, you will not have anymore raspy or sore throad. I recommend a little warm mild and honey to smooth out the throat.

  2. Are you possibly singing too much?Or maybe your close to blowing your voice. You could ask your voice teacher he would probably know what's wrong.I hope I helped! :)

  3. Try resting your voice for a while. Drinking hot tea always helps me. I used to have that problem and honestly there is no cure.  I don't know what advice to give you, if you don't have this problem with your teacher then, don't stress your voice at home. Have a cup of hot tea by your side and just take it easy.... don't go belting Mariah Carey songs

    hope this helped!
