It also kind of hurts to sing. Not really bad, but it just sort hurts, and it doest project as good as it did a few weeks ago. What is going on? I can talk just fine. It's just when I sing that things get weird...what's going on? should I go to a doctor or go on a vocal rest?

  1. Go on a vocal rest. Do not sing for 3 days. Whisper or write when you need to talk. Gargle frequently. After 3 days if you still have a problem see a Dr.

You most likely have strained your voice. It can happen with normal singing and definitely singing loud or extending your range.

  2. No. You should learn to sing properly. When you use your "head voice" your soft palate will lift and you won't have any pain. If you sing with your throat or chest, as many "pop" singers do, you will probably experience tightness and pain. You can also do damage to your vocal cords. If you want to learn to sing, find an experienced vocal coach. Here is an example of what happens to your vocal cords:

Notice that when she sings properly, her vocal cords flap, but when you sing improperly, they will hit together very hard. If you do this for hours, can you imagine the damage you can do?
