My volleyball team is divided...? The Starters think they are better than everyone else. Please help!?

I love playing volleyball. I mean, I did. This year, our first year on the JV team, isn't going that well. We've lost every game, but we really aren't a bad team! We are all good, we just can't seem to put it together in a game. The biggest problem? My team is divided. Badly. The starters are the "Popular" girls, who think they are better than everyone else, and they are extremely rude and annoying to everyone! It's horrible! I dread going to practice! And to make things worse, they get to play in the game all the time, and they have missed loads of practices. I've came to every single practice, even during the summer months, except recently. I was sick with a fever the past two practices, but that is it! I try really hard, and I am pretty good at passing. I need practice with serving, I just don't seem to get it. But what makes me angry is that my coach told me, "I see how hard you try. I know you work harder than the other girls." And I sit on the bench almost every game!! Help!

  1. If things are going to change, the other girls in your situation need to stand up and confront the coach.  Many voices are more effective than just one.  If things still don't change, you need to get your parents involved.  It is not fair for you to attend every practice and not play, while others don't practice and get to play.  Please understand, however, that if everyone is at every practice and the other girls have better skills, they have every right to play more.

  2. I kinda know how u feel! last year i was in 2nd string too...and i tryed really hard but i was the youngest. But this year im on 1st string. Im not one of the popular ppl or anything but everytime i even try to tell the 2nd string anything to help them they get mad and im like wtf i was trying to help...dont be like that. be open to advice. dont quit the team yet! ur time will come 2 be a starter!

  3. hit them w. a vball, and tell the coach, they are btches. if your coach dont give a c**p, hit him/herrrr then quit and tell the principal !

  4. its bad that those girls think theyre superior but if theyre better than you they deserve to play

my advice is keep practicing and eventually you will surpass those girls and you will be a starter

  5. i am SOOOO SORRY!!! that is, like, the EXACT same thing happening to me..but it mite also be this: are they older? older players (like sophmores) will usually get more playing time

  6. talk to the coaches.  i think it must have started with the coaches giving them a big head.  They should not be starting if they aren't showing up to practice.  But keep in mind, it's just JV.  Just keep practicing and try to make the varsity team.  It should be better there!

  7. Having to sit out definitly makes you love the game a little less.  Well the truth is, the girls who start ARE better than the other players, that's why they start, but it doesn't mean they work harder or at all even, and it sounds like they definitly don't work as hard as the rest of the team.  If they've been missing practices, they shouldn't be able to play in the next game or at least not start, that's what happens on my team.  I'm not sure why your coach is being unfair, because it seems like they recognize how hard you work.  So you'd think you would get more playing time.  I think the only thing you can really do is talk to your coach about it...let them know how you feel but in a mature way.  I hope you can get more playing time in!!!

  8. Tell ur coach that u really want to play and tell her that u been practicing and then tell her that the starters r being mean and u never know she might take them out
