My voter status is currently set to inactive. Can anyone help?

I found out that I'm still eligible to vote even if my voter status is inactive. Can anybody tell me if that's true or not? Also, can you tell me how to get it set back to Active. I live in NY (Brooklyn to be more exact). I was in Long Island all my life up until November of last year. I don't know if that last tidbit will help or not. Any information/advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

  1. Reregister with your new address so you are eligible to vote in your new precinct.  The address change is what's affecting you.

  2. You must go to the registrar of voters and re-register.  Many states deactivate voters if they don't vote in two or three consecutive elections as a way to weed out voters who have moved out of their county.
