  1. if it is self-adhesive, and you also put wallpaper paste on it, you probably de-activated both adhesives in some small way making neither ideal nor adherent

scrape that s**t off and use either one or the other - don't assume adhesives are all additive

for example mixing oil-based and water-based paints - one could assume "well, they're both paint and the same color" and mix them together, but really it'd wonk up both of them and adhere terribly to the wall

huh actually that might end up looking pretty cool, like bubbly or something - but anyway, that's the point

  2. Don't use Elmer's. You'll never be able to remove the border.

Have you wet the border?  You are supposed to soak it for 15 seconds, let it sit 10 minutes, then apply. This activates the adhesive.

Just get a tube of vinyl to vinyl paste and try that if this doesn't work.

  3. The only answer I agree with on here is Elmer's glue.

I had the same issue about a month back. It was not a matter of dirty walls, or walls that needed to be sanded down prior to painting or any of that jazz. What the issue was is that the self-stick borders and lettering are best suited to stick to walls painted with oil based paint, not latex paint though the packages never mention that tid-bit of information. I spoke to a friend of mine that has done YEARS of work with vinyl lettering and that's what he tells me, as did his competitor.

What worked for ME is to take Prepz wall paper adhesive by Zinnser and apply that to the back of the border before sticking it to the wall. Since doing that, I haven't had one bit of it fall.  That was my easy fix & really what I would suggest doing at this point. I think I spent like $5-6 on one bottle of that stuff and hardly needed to use any of it.

    Good luck!!

  4. I would suggest cleaning your walls with a product called TSP, If there is grease, dust, or any build up on your wall, your adhesive will not be able to stick regardless of what you do.

Go to any home improvement store, and ask the paint dept for TSP, it comes in powder and liquid form.   Also ask for adhesive for prepasted wallpaper, it is a different product then the adhesive for non-pasted wall paper.

You should be able to get your wallpaper to adhere to your wall as soon as you follow these steps.  Good luck

  5. Wash the wall were you are going to be putting the paper and let dry thoroughly.  Rough up the wall with sandpaper to give surface to bond to.  Use cheese cloth to remove sanding dust.  Try hanging paper again.

  6. If you go to the decorating shop, you can get some vinyl glue for this.  Happens all the time...and it shouldn't matter if the border is on a painted surface or other paper.  It will work in either case.

    HTH

  7. well....i had a kind where you soak it in water for like 10-30 seconds or something like that but.... if youve tride it then idk

  8. When mine kept coming down I used plain old Elmer's glue and it stayed up.
