Question:

My washer and dryer either need repair or I need new ones..

My dryer is squeaking when you first turn it on, like the bearings are going. It still works, and after 1-2 minutes the squeaking goes away.

My washer works fine except that recently we started to put old towels on the floor up against it, because a little water leaks out and forms a small puddle right where your feet would be if you were standing there loading the washer.

I am wondering if it would cost more to call a repair man and get these things fixed, or if buying a new washer and drier is the way to go.

These appliances work fine other than that - although they are about 15 years old.

thanks

  1. I would recommend getting new ones. These sound like they are going out and even the less expensive washer and dryers are much more efficient than the ones you have, so you will save money on utilities.

  2. To compare cost , ask maintenance shop to estimate the cost of repair and spare parts to be replaced ( in most countries repair is less than buying new one)

Be sure to replace original spare parts ,and use certified, experienced maintenance man
